Is Christmas still Christmas?

So here it is Christmas Eve, I remember as a child I use to ride by the churches that said “Jesus is the reason for the season”. I use to think to myself ‘well Duh’. Now I understand. We have managed to take one single aspect of the Christmas story in the Bible and made it about us. Three wise men gave gifts as confirmation and an offering unto our Lord and Savior( Mat 2:11). So as a memory we give gifts to one another. Like we’re the ones who are going to pay the penalty on the cross for all of mankind. The gift giving part of the scripture is glorified while the fact that Jesus was born is watered down. It’s like going to a birthday party and bringing gifts for everyone except the guest of honor. christmasornamentcrossWe made Christmas into family time, eating time, going into more debt time, and sleeping time. When it’s really about a prophecy coming to pass which means the rest of the prophecy will too. On top of that, this Christmas is on Sunday. Which means, there are some who have a problem with it, but aren’t these the same people who have a problem with going to church in the first place. It’s done more out of obligation than a relationship. We have turned Christmas into a show instead of keeping the reverence. Don’t get me wrong. I love family, friends, giving gifts and cooking etc. However, the complaining, and whining because you didn’t get what you want as an adult has got to stop. We are validating our children’s tantrums, by throwing our own. We show them how to manipulate people to get what we want, rather than teaching them Christian morals. Why is it that Christian Holidays are the most compromising Holidays than any other Religious Holiday? We need to take our Christian walk more seriously if we want others to do the same. I’m not saying we can’t have fun, but I am saying we need to keep Holy things Holy.

Blessings to you ❤

  1. It’s only right for you to capture the very thoughts I was about to say in my next blog. Everything you said was true. I know we hate the word ‘balance’ when it comes to Christian lifestyle, but when thinking of this, there is definitely a way to tip the scale, so to speak, in the direction opposite of honoring our Lord. He is absolutely the reason for the season, and we have to be careful not to get caught up in what I like to call the Christmas frenzy.
